Proposed new Club Constitution

For those interested - Click here

Its approval or otherwise will be voted on by members at the AGM.

The following motion will be moved:

"That the club adopt the new MG Car Club Canterbury Centre Incorporated constitution as presented at the Club's 2025 AGM, as required by the Incorporated Societies Act 2022."

Proposed new Club Motorsport Constitution

For those interested - Click here

With the exception of the title and more specific Objectives this new proposed constitution is a mirror image of the Club Constitution above. Both will be under the Club committee.

By Club members registering their intention to participate in motor sports events (e.g. Levels, motorkhanas, .. ) we can be specific with numbers when each year paying the Motorsport NZ comprehensive insurance policy - this will be a significant saving for the club as currently we pay for each and every member. Club members not on the Motorsport register can still particIpate in events - as day members. Both Auckland and Wellington MG clubs operate in this manner. Tony will provide full details at the AGM.

The following relevant motions will be moved at the AGM:

1. That the MG Car Club Canterbury Centre Inc. formally resigns from Motorsport NZ.

2. That a new club called the MG Canterbury Centre Motorsport Club Inc. be created and be affiliated to Motorsport NZ to allow for any motorsport activities the club may wish to pursue, that require a Motorsport NZ permit.

3. That the constitution of the MG Canterbury Centre Motorsport Club Incorporated as presented at the Club's 2025 AGM be approved as required by the Incorporated Society Act 2022.

If you have questions or comments on either of the proposed new constitutions please contact Tony Reid before the AGM i.e. as early as possible so your thoughts are taken into account. frameandreid@gmail.com , 021 243 7412

SAT. 25th OCT.Labour Weekend trip to Kaikoura

Dept Sat. 25th Oct. – retn Mon. 27th Oct.

This trip is now full - with 52 names we are beyond the maximum for the restaurant.  Sunday night’s meal at The Pier Hotel has restricted our dinner numbers, so at the moment Sandra has a waitlist. Trip numbers may change and all that wish to dine at The Pier may yet be able to.  To join the waitlist contact Sandra.

Remember, you do not have to join the group for any of the pre-arranged meals; just ensure Sandra knows you have other plans so she can provide correct meal numbers to the venue. Planned meals -  one pub meal, one hotel meal and a breakfast at classic car museum.

For those interested, the drive north will be over the Scenic/Inland Route (SH80). There is an alternative route available for those who like rural shingle roads. A lunch picnic stop is planned.

No ‘official’ group activity on Sunday, other than a nice dinner. There are many local activities to choose from.  Speak to Leonid if you are interested in joining him on a boat for a fishing trip. Whales, dolphins, museums, coffee - something for everyone.

Next update will be early October to get accurate meal numbers. Following that, you will be asked to select your meals in advance for both the evening venues. It is anticipated that Kaikoura will be very
busy over the long weekend.

Welcome!

The MG Car Club Canterbury Centre has its roots in the original 'MG Car Club of New Zealand', formed in 1952 when many of the country's motorsport enthusiasts drove our favourite marque in the shape of TCs, TAs, Ps and Js.

From those early beginnings the NZ Club has devolved into four major Centres, two in the North Island and two in the South.  Each of these Centres is autonomous, organising competitive and social events for members within its regions. Like the 'Crusaders' our region includes Nelson, Marlborough and the West Coast as well as Canterbury. There are also a range of inter-Centre and national activities you are able to enjoy.  And of course, if you are visiting another region you will be most welcome to participate in any of their events, competitive or social.

Like most MG Clubs around the world we are affiliated to the MGCC UK ensuring access to badging, logos and so on.  We also maintain regular contact with a number of Centres in NZ, Australia, the US and the UK to help ensure we offer the best possible benefits and MG enjoyment for all of our members.

For more detail of what we do, please visit the 'About Us' section.
